Today’s word is chef. When I think of a chef I could name Bocuse, Guerard, Robuchon, Etchebest or Ducasse and the list can go on a while. But the person I’d like to talk about is Michel Beyls. You probably can find only one photo of him on the internet. It’s this particular one that I used as an inspiration to draw his portrait. Michel passed away a few years now. But we remember him dearly especially when we eat a poulet rôti with frites maison. He was a generous man, a talented chef and worked many years in Brussels. He owned a couple of Michelin stars and cooked in La cravache d’or, La pomme d’or, L’Oasis, L’Orangeraie, Les délices de la mer..
I remember him walking hands in his back in the hotel lobby at the Conrad Istanbul and his (unforgettable) last visit in France. To portray his dishes I’d use words like sobriety, simplicity, honesty, natural.
A great chef can leave you with ever lasting memories! I hope you all get to meet your own Michel and savor dishes from a talented chef. ❤️
