I have waited for this day for 4 long, scary, stressful, anxiety building years.
In the last 4 years I’ve seen so much of what I believe in (things I thought were fundamentally “American”) challenged and destroyed.
At times it felt like this nightmare would never end, but it can and I pray it’s about to.
Today I voted for...
Equality. I voted for minorities, for the LGBTQ community, for women, for my daughters, for refugees, for immigrants.
I voted for #blacklivesmatter
I voted for a women’s right to chose what happens to her body.
I voted for our planet, so that it will still be here for my grandchildren. ✅
I voted for democracy.
I voted for truth over lies. For acceptance over hate.
I voted for gun policy that will keep our children and teachers safe at schools.
I voted for reason over insanity.
I voted for America, for the principles of tolerance and democracy on which this country was founded.
I voted for my children and grandchildren.
I voted because staying silent is not an option.
