Greetings from my trinket-packed apartment in Calgary, where I’m sipping on cardamom-scented coffee and watching the afternoon sunshine melt the snow. It has been the perfect day to spend some time adding a few new items to my online shop. You didn’t know I had one? Well then, let me tell you all about it! 🙃
For as long as I can remember I’ve been a designer and collector of unique objects rich with story and history. My house is FULL of them. Several years ago, while meeting a friend to discuss the idea of starting an online shop, the name “mud and mirrors” spontaneously appeared in my mind. I didn’t quite know what it meant but it made me think of the beautiful mud houses of Gujarat with their inlaid mirror-work, of the earth, and self-reflection. Instinctively I knew that the meaning would continue to reveal itself over time and it still is. I’d love to hear what it makes you think of!
Over the years, this idea has slowly evolved into a small brand where I am able to share with you the stories of the objects I have collected on my journeys, many of them from my personal collection. My Texan friend, Jen, of @littlecloudjen is the artist behind this rad logo. Although I still have big dreams of what #mudandmirrors
might someday become, for now, it’s a little side gig that will hopefully allow me to spend more time at my writing desk.
*** Next month, I will finally launch a little print shop of select travel photographs and to celebrate this milestone, I’ll be offering a coupon code in my next newsletter. So, please sign up if you haven’t already. ***
With Christmas just around the corner, it’s a good time to start thinking about unique gifts, and I’ve definitely got you covered.
As with all of my creative ventures, thank you for your continued support.
