I wasn't gonna do it. I really wasn't. Westknits shawls are all beautiful, but they always have so many colors... the issue I have is totally my issue - I don't have a lot of different colors in my stash... I have a lot of different shades of 1 color - because it's the exceptionally-beautiful-color (EBC) that makes me happiest.
What changed my mind? 1st, I saw a post of #SlipstravaganzaMKAL
yarn posibilities & 1was MY color! It was sooo pretty... *sigh* But, no, still not gonna do it; I'm strong, I can resist! I've got too many projects going & plans for more - no time. Then YouTube conspired against me, putting Steven's clue #1
right in my face! He makes me smile, of course I watched. And what did he do?!? WHAT DID HE DO! His 1st clue was a pattern I've wanted to do for almost a year!!! But no, I'm strong (remember?!?) I'll just poke through my stash, doubtful I'll have the skeins I'd need, but can't hurt to look, right? I only have 1 color... how boring... under NO circumstance could I make a boring Steven West shawl! Time to make a deal: if I can find stashed yarn for all but 1, I'd allow myself to buy 1 skein. (I'm strong willed, but I can be generous; also knew I'd need a non-EBC, that wouldn't be stashed, to save it from being too much of a good thing.) ;o) Long story short: I found what I needed (excepting the non-EBC) including a ball for his MOHAIR-DARE! Yep, watched that video, too & I'll take that dare. So, bought the pattern & CC #2,
wound my skeins, & cast on immediately; I didn't even care that CC #2
was missing cause it's not needed 'til later! Kismet!!!
MC = Malabrigo - Sock in Caribeño
CC1 = handspun yarn by me containing merino, silk, & bamboo - %'s ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
CC2 = KnitPicks - Shimmer in Forsythia
CC3 = mystery yarn (lost the band - this bums me out - it's super soft & squishy)
MD (Mohair Dare) = KFI Luxury Mohair in all the colors #SlipstravaganzaMKAL
