There is a weakened sense of community over last few years which we can say is another ‘evil’ of modern society. I have grown up playing in the neighbourhood and celebrating festivals with neighbours but now we hardly make the time and effort to know our neighbours. This leads to people feeling isolated, lonely and fearful and it is felt more in such times like the pandemic.
Sense of community also translates into supporting groups and causes that benefit the standard of living of people directly or indirectly.
One such cause that lead me to what I am doing now is supporting the artisan community. So this festive season let’s make an effort to ‘revive’ the community feeling, say a hello or wave out to your neighbour in the balcony across and bring a smile on her face. Spread the festive spirit celebrating with neighbours.
And let’s buy handmade products and support the artisans to make this festival bright for the artisans and their families. Let’s make a difference!

[COMPOSTING CHRONICLES] Week 1 of 14 of us flipping the almost 400lb indigo compost pile! The temperature of the pile has been around 118 degrees Fahrenheit and a fuzzy white beneficial fungus had coated the pile before we went in with shovels and hoes and hands to break up clumps and release the heat inside. (Yes, that is steam coming off the leaves 🙈)
After de-clumping, we rebuilt the pile with the already composting leaves mixed with new leaves (from our volunteers!!) in a lasagna format to continue the fermentation process. We also gave the pile an insulating blanket to shelter it from the cold nights!
Until next week 💕 #praxisfiberworkshop  #waterlooartsdistrict  #indigochronicles  #naturaldyes  #naturalindigo  #indigo  #indigoblue
