IG ‘booty’ trends I’ve had to unlearn! 📝
I’ve learnt a lot on this app - but I’ve also had to evaluate and unlearn some things too that were just trendy! Although different tenchniqes work for different people here’s what I’ve had to ‘unlearn’
🍑 Squatting too low ‘ass to grass’ isnt the one. Although sometimes I’ll try to go as low as I can (no weights). When heavy lifting or having any sort of resistance, I get that ‘butt wink’ when I go too low which can effect the lower spine! So now when I’m squatting heavy I go just as low as my mobility allows me!
🍑 Over squeezing the glutes/over hip thrusting! Omg I was doing this all the time and so were most people! A slight squeeze is ok!! But over thrusting or squeezing at the top can again cause injury to the lumbar spine! Your glutes are also most engaged at the bottom of your squat!
🍑 Just doing accessory work is not the one!! I used to only ever do these - your Glute kickbacks, hydrants, standing abduction etc. And they’re great for a home workouts or after your session but doing them only and forever nope! Add in those heavy heavy hip thrusts, deadlifts, squats, lunges as priority!
